After 18 months of hard work, we have decided to disburse Mintlayer tokens as ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain.

The Mintlayer utility tokens can be used to purchase services from RBB Lab to support developing projects on Mintlayer.

RBB Lab is also working on the ecosystem fund, which will create additional avenues to support the earliest projects being built on Mintlayer.

All of our token holders will also receive their tokens sooner.

Why Did We Choose This?

By temporarily using Ethereum’s network, we will be able to issue tokens months sooner than we would have otherwise.

Using established infrastructure to launch tokens before the launch of our mainnet will allow users and developers to benefit from token utility during the testnet.

This will allow us to set up the infrastructure for potential developers to purchase expert services from RBB Lab, set the foundation for the ecosystem fund, and help facilitate our partnership with Launchpool, (Launchpool Labs) for Mintlayer.

The Future of Mintlayer Tokens

Our token launch event is the first step in developing a rich DeFi ecosystem on top of the Bitcoin blockchain.

In the future, MLS-01 tokens will be disbursed to each holder’s Mojito wallet in a 1:1 ratio for the ERC-20 Mintlayer tokens they control.

Things are starting to get very exciting at Mintlayer. This decision will ensure rapid progress in early development stages.
