January 2025 Mintlayer Development Update

Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, Mintlayer continues to advance with significant strides across our platform. January has been a fruitful month, marked by crucial developments in our wallet connectivity, enhancements to our Block Explorer, and updates to our core systems and browser extension. Let's delve into the specifics of this month's progress:
Mintlayer Wallet Connect Development:
- Wallet Connect Progress: We are excited to announce that the development of Mintlayer Wallet Connect is well underway. This new feature will enable websites to prepare transactions for signing by the wallet, significantly simplifying the user experience and enhancing security for transaction approvals.
Block Explorer Enhancements:
- Support for MLS Tokens: Our Block Explorer is set to enhance support for both MLS-01 and MLS-03 tokens. Deployment of these updates will occur shortly, improving the visibility and management of these token types for our users. MLS-03 is Mintlayer’s NFT standard.
Browser Extension Updates:
- NFT and Token Functionality: The Mojito browser extension now supports NFTs and other token types, providing users with more comprehensive interaction capabilities within the Mintlayer ecosystem.
- Continuous Improvements: We’ve also implemented various bug fixes and improvements to ensure that the browser extension remains reliable and user-friendly.
Core Developments:
- Mintlayer V1.0.0 Network Upgrade and Bug Fixes: The network has been successfully upgraded to support Native BTC Cross Chain Swaps (Atomic Swaps) and order functionalities. Alongside these upgrades, we have conducted minor bug fixing to enhance overall network stability.
- Security and Stress Tests for Mintlayer Bridge: Extensive security and stress tests have been completed for the bridge, preparing it for deployment on the mainnet. The user interface for this feature is currently under construction and will soon enhance the integration between networks.
- Node-GUI-X Development: The brand new node-gui-x, which will greatly enhance the full node GUI experience, has been developed and is now in the bug-fixing phase before its release. This update will be available both as a standalone application and as a Docker instance, catering to diverse user needs.
ZK Thunder Network Update:
- Repo Transition and Testnet Launch: ZK Thunder Network has moved to a new repository and is currently running on a private testnet. We are preparing to launch it on a public testnet in the coming days, marking a significant milestone in its development.
